A PASSIONATE PIANIST
Jacob Wang recently graduated with a Bachelor's in Piano Performance and Business at the University of Michigan under a Presidential Scholarship. He is continuing at the University of Michigan pursuing his Master's in Piano Pedagogy and Performance.
Jacob began his piano studies as a high school student at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts under Eric Larsen and Dmitri Vorobiev. At the School of the Arts, he performed extensively with the orchestra and around the state and internationally. He has won major prizes in Michigan, North Carolina, Arkansas, Iowa, and multiple awards from MTNA. In the summer of 2017, as a part of the Tempest Piano Trio, Jacob was awarded the Semans Art Fund Grant to tour Germany, performing a series of concerts focusing on chamber music.
As an accompanist and collaborator, Wang has been hired as a staff accompanist at the Castleman Quartet program, studio accompanist of Solomia Soroka, and is an award-winning freelance accompanist. In his collaboration with Esther Yejoo Lee, they were most recently awarded the top prize at Hong Kong International Music Festival Competition.
